NamingForce - Short Review

Naming Tools

Naming Force is a platform that provides business naming services through crowdsourced naming contests, catering to start-ups and companies in need of creative and effective names for their businesses, products, or websites.

What Naming Force Does

Naming Force addresses the challenge of finding the perfect name for a business by hosting contests where clients describe their company, product, or service, along with relevant keywords and preferences. These descriptions are then used by a community of creative individuals, known as “Namers,” to submit name suggestions.

Key Features and Functionality

Contest Phases

The naming process is divided into three phases:
  1. Phase One: Namers submit name suggestions over a period of 7 days (or 3 days for “rush” contests). Clients can “favorite” or “reject” names and communicate with Namers for clarification or additional information.
  2. Phase Two: The submitted names are voted on by the Namer community over 3 days. This voting process uses a complex algorithm to rank the names based on voting patterns, ensuring that the best names are bubbled to the top. Clients can view these rankings, filtered by age group and gender.
  3. Phase Three: Clients review the ranked names and select a winner within 7 days. If a client fails to choose a winner, the voting results determine the winner.

Voting and Ranking System

The platform employs a unique voting system where Namers participate in blind ranking of the submitted names. This system helps to identify strong and weak names, as well as evaluate the performance of Namers themselves. The UP and DOWN icons during voting indicate how names are moving up or down in the rankings based on voter feedback.

Namer Roles and Capabilities

Namers are categorized into different ranks (Cadets, Corporals, Sergeants) based on their Naming Score, which reflects their performance. Higher-ranked Namers have more privileges, such as submitting more names, challenging duplicate names, and communicating directly with clients.

Client Benefits

  • Clients receive hundreds of name suggestions, often exceeding 600 submissions, for a relatively low cost (around $0.17 per name).
  • The platform ensures that the submitted names are creative, available as domain names, and free from trademark issues.
  • Clients can engage with Namers to refine their preferences and get feedback on the submitted names.

Additional Features

  • Market Survey: The platform conducts a market survey of the submitted names, providing clients with a list of the best names ranked by the community.
  • Contest Customization: Clients can specify themes, keywords, and preferences to guide the naming process.
  • Refund Policy: Naming Force ensures that clients pay the award amount regardless of their intent to use the submitted name, maintaining the integrity of the contest process.
In summary, Naming Force leverages crowdsourcing to provide a robust and creative solution for businesses looking to find the perfect name, offering a structured and community-driven approach to naming contests.
