Aristo

Aristo is a flagship project aimed at developing an artificially intelligent system that can read, learn, and reason from texts. The team achieved a milestone in 2018 by successfully passing an 8th-grade science exam. Currently, the focus is on building the next generation of systems that can systematically reason, explain, and continually improve over time.



PRIOR

The PRIOR team advances computer vision by creating AI systems that can see, explore, learn, and reason about the world. They developed the AI2-THOR platform, an open embodied AI platform for training AI agents in simulated environments, and released the game Iconary to demonstrate AI’s ability to understand and produce situated scenes from icons.



Semantic Scholar

Semantic Scholar is an AI-backed search engine for academic publications, released in November 2015. It uses natural language processing to provide features such as summaries for scholarly papers, contextual information about inline citations, and the ability to create libraries of papers and receive paper recommendations.



AllenNLP

The AllenNLP team works on improving the performance, interpretability, and accountability of natural language processing (NLP) systems. They develop open-source tools, such as a PyTorch-based Python library, to accelerate NLP research and applications in areas like machine translation, sentiment analysis, and conversational AI.



MOSAIC

The MOSAIC project focuses on defining and building common sense knowledge and reasoning for AI systems, enabling them to reason more intuitively about the physical and social world.



AI for the Environment

This initiative applies AI solutions to environmental problems, including the prevention of poaching and illegal fishing, climate modeling, and wildfire management. Projects include EarthRanger, Skylight, and Climate Modeling.



OLMo

OLMo is an open language model developed by AI2, aiming to match the performance of other state-of-the-art language models. It was open-sourced in February 2024, including code, model weights, and the Dolma training dataset, making it one of the most open state-of-the-art models available.
