Product Overview of AI Actions (Ibexa DXP)

Introduction

AI Actions, integrated into the Ibexa DXP (Digital Experience Platform), is a powerful and extensible solution designed to harness the potential of artificial intelligence to enhance user interaction and automate complex editorial tasks. This feature is part of the AI Actions LTS update, which leverages AI services to streamline content management and editing processes.

Key Features and Functionality

Automation of Editorial Tasks

AI Actions automates time-consuming editorial tasks, such as refining text and generating alternative text for images. This is achieved through predefined AI action types that can be triggered with minimal user input, significantly reducing the workload for content editors and media managers.

Action Types

Out-of-the-box, AI Actions includes two essential action types:

  • Refine Text: Allows content editors to enhance or modify text by adjusting length, changing tone, or correcting linguistic errors. This functionality is integrated into content types with RichText fields and certain Page Builder blocks.
  • Generate Alternative Text: Automatically generates alt text for images to improve accessibility and SEO. This feature can be extended to run batch processes on larger collections of images.

User-Friendly Interface

The AI Actions interface is well-integrated with the existing UI of Ibexa DXP. Administrators can manage AI action configurations through the Admin panel, where they can create, edit, execute, and delete actions. Editors can trigger these actions directly from the online editor or image management modal with a simple click of a button.

Extensibility

AI Actions is highly extensible, allowing developers to define new AI action types and integrate additional AI services. This involves developing new service connectors, handlers, and configuration forms, enabling organizations to tailor the solution to their specific needs. Developers can also use internal AI services without exposing data to third-party services.

Programmatic Execution

The AI Actions LTS update includes a REST API interface that allows developers to execute AI actions programmatically. This enables the automation of tasks on batches of content by integrating them into workflows, further enhancing the efficiency of content management.

Management and Control

Users with appropriate permissions can control the lifecycle of AI actions, including creating, editing, executing, and deleting them. AI action configurations can be enabled or disabled based on organizational needs, and the interface allows for easy searching, filtering, and reviewing of AI actions.

Capabilities

  • AI Service Integration: AI Actions relies on external AI services, such as OpenAI, to execute tasks. The framework gathers information from various sources, combines it with user input, and sends it to the AI service for processing.
  • Contextual Details: The system considers contextual details like SiteAccess, user details, and locale settings to ensure that the AI actions are executed in a relevant and user-friendly manner.

Use Cases

  • Content Enhancement: Content editors can use AI to refine text, improving content quality and reducing workload.
  • Accessibility and SEO: Media managers can generate alt text for images, enhancing accessibility and search engine optimization.
  • Batch Processing: Administrators can use the API to run batch processes on large collections of content, such as generating alt text for multiple images at once.

In summary, AI Actions in Ibexa DXP is a versatile and user-friendly solution that leverages AI to automate and enhance content management tasks, offering significant benefits in terms of efficiency, accessibility, and overall content quality.
