MateCat now incorporates OpenAI’s GPT-4, leveraging the GPT-4 Chat Completion API to provide context-specific definitions for words highlighted in the source language. In cases where the GPT-4 rate limit is exceeded, MateCat falls back on GPT-3.5-turbo.

This split functionality ensures that multiple translators can work simultaneously on the same project, using the same translation memories, glossaries, and commenting on issues within the tool. Translators can see the entire document in real-time, even though they can only edit their assigned parts.
Quality Assurance and Project Management
The tool performs automatic quality checks during translation, including checks for tag mismatches, tag order mismatches, whitespace mismatches, and translation conflicts. A progress bar and To-do count help track the status of the translation. Once the translation is complete, MateCat generates a detailed analysis and allows for the download of the fully translated file.
Resource Management
MateCat supports the upload of translation memories (TMX files) and glossaries, which can be easily imported in Excel file format. This feature enables translators to use client-provided glossaries and translation memories efficiently. Private TM keys can be created and reused across multiple projects, ensuring continuous backup and updates of translation memories.
